Summary

  • add an OpenAPI route guard to the analytics smoke script
  • make MCP tool errors report isError messages directly instead of falling through to JSON parse errors
  • document the OpenAPI guard in the MCP smoke runbook

Why

The deployed MCP can expose milestone analytics tools while kan-web still lacks the matching REST/OpenAPI routes. The previous smoke could pass basic checks and then fail with Unexpected token in live mode. This makes that mismatch explicit.

Tests / smoke

  • pnpm --filter @kan/mcp test -- client.test.ts --run
  • pnpm --filter @kan/api test -- forgejoAnalytics.test.ts --run
  • node scripts/kan-analytics-smoke.mjs currently fails against production with the expected missing OpenAPI route message until main is deployed.

Rollback

Revert this commit; it only changes a smoke script and docs.
