Scope

Turn the now-closed W8/M09 work into a concise closeout plus one next-candidate recommendation.

This should answer:

  • what #501, #505, #506, #507, #508, and uptime-kuma runtime pilot actually proved;
  • whether M09 should remain closed for now or get one tiny next upgrade candidate;
  • what candidate is safest if we do one more upgrade.

Spec sources

  • state/roadmap/current-platform-roadmap.md § Module upgrade waves
  • Forgejo milestone 09 - Module upgrade waves
  • Issues #389, #501, #502, #505, #506, #507, #508

Extracted context

From roadmap:

W8 | M09 | Module upgrade waves using ADR-0022 metadata and rollback evidence. | M02 restore confidence and M05 metadata foundation are accepted.

From live milestone state on 2026-05-28:

Milestone 09 has 0 open issues and 7 closed issues.

Acceptance criteria

  • Produce a compact closeout note/status artifact.
  • Identify one of: no-op / next candidate / blocked on DR / blocked on metadata.
  • If recommending a next candidate, include current image, candidate image, rollback, smoke, and blast-radius summary.
  • No runtime mutation.
  • No broad upgrade batch.

Out of scope

  • Upgrading Forgejo.
  • Upgrading stateful services.
  • Reopening W8 as a broad wave.

Agent notes

Recommended executor: Gemini 3.5 Flash local.

Rules:

  • Keep the PR atomic.
  • Do not mutate production runtime unless the issue explicitly says so.
  • Do not create new planning docs if a short status/update file or issue comment is enough.
  • Use Polish for operator-facing summaries; English for code/PR body.
  • PR body must include Spec sources read.

Codex closeout note: M09 closeout has been integrated on main via merge commit e44b8ebdc27858bdca173db61ba9723d570ac446 from PR #601.

Result:

  • M09 closes as a successful small module-upgrade wave.
  • uptime-kuma remains the only runtime pilot for this wave.
  • No further broad/runtime upgrade candidate is selected today.
  • Next runtime upgrades are gated on post-M01 DR refresh in M02.

Evidence artifact: state/cycle/M09-module-upgrade-closeout-2026-05-29.md.
